Be Her Village

Be Her Village is more than just gifts. We care deeply about maternal health. Our mission is to improve motherhood by creating access to funds for support services during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum year. We believe that women need access to high quality care in order to improve health outcomes. With our gift registry we get funds directly in the hands of the women who need them. Our platform is a bridge between growing families and the service providers that support them.

We believe that mothers need to step into the spotlight. So we’ve created an innovative private-nonprofit partnership with Maternal Spotlight, a maternal health research and fundraising organization, to do just that. Together, Be Her Village and Maternal Spotlight will empower women and their communities by discussing examples of high quality maternal care and improving access to it.

Through our partnership, we have created a unique blog series, The Consequences of Producing Humans, to provide both access to services and the latest maternal research - all in one place.

SEREIN

Serein is interested in creating more awareness around maternal health topics in India.

Founder Ishani Roy explains, “Many of us would remember how apprehensive we were the first week back to work from maternity break, or how difficult it was to excel at work while navigating the unconscious biases that surround a new mother in the workplace. All this, while living up to society's expectations of gender, qualifications, and success. These instances affect some of us more than others, but we put on a mask and try to plough through it all.

In my experience of working with women (and men) who have faced biases - implicit or explicit - I see too many of them keeping quiet, too many of them suffering continuous mental agony and sadly too many of them not seeking help. Let us stand by each other while we navigate this much needed conversation on mental health and maternal well being.”
